Instruction on Restricted Races :
If you have sponsored an owner restricted race, it will appear on the My Sponsor list and will include a number in parenthesis. There will also be a Passwords link.
The number in parenthesis is the Master Password for the race. For instance, say that you sponsored race 1 in Vermont in week 802 and went to the My Sponsor link. The race is listed as :
802.3701(678987)
Anyone that signed up for the race normally (as race 802.3701) will be rejected since they did not sign up using the password. However, anyone signing up for race
802.3701(678987)
will be accepted. You can give this password out to anyone you would like, and anyone signing up for the race using the correct password will be accepted. There may, however, be instances in which you do not want to give this password out, since any stable using it can gain access into the sponsored race. For example, say that you wanted to restrict it only to a small number of stables. My testcase stable is one of these stables you want to allow in, but you don't want to allow me to enter my billgulch stable into the race.
If this is the case, you can click on the Passwords link for this race, select the Stable Passwords option, enter in testcase and hit the Submit Form button. It returns :
testcase -- 802.3701(545654)
So, instead of giving me the Master Password 802.3701(678987) which would allow me to enter any horse in any stable that fit the restrictions, you send me an e-mail telling me that my testcase stable's password for this race is 802.3701(545654). If I use this to sign up a horse in my testcase stable, it will work fine. If I try using this password to sign up a horse in my billgulch stable, it will be rejected.
Furthermore, say that you only want to allow me to enter one horse (ID #15752) into the race. If this is the case, you can click on the Passwords link for this race, select the Horse ID Passwords option, enter in 15752 and hit the Submit Form button. It returns :
15752 -- 802.3701(112341)
So, instead of giving me the Master Password 802.3701(678987) which would allow me to enter any horse in any stable that fit the restrictions, or my testcase stable password 802.3701(545654) which would allow me to enter any horse in my testcase stable that fit the race restrictions, you send me an e-mail telling me that I can enter horse 15752 into the race by entering the race number 802.3701(112341). If I use this to sign up horse 15752, it will work. If I try using this password to sign up any other horse, however, it will be rejected.
In conclusion :
You are the only person that has access to these passwords, and it is your responsibility to give them to the owners that you want to race. Giving the Master Password out can be dangerous, since others can pass it on to others you may not want in the race. The Stable Passwords and Horse ID Passwords are much safer, since they only work for the people you give them to.
